I completed a full year of student teaching at Dandridge Elementary school with Mrs. Teague's 2nd grade class.  From there, I came on with John Hay for the 2009-2010 school year as a KINDERGARTEN teacher! I was able to learn from Mrs. Hance and Mrs. Yount all year about the fundamentals of early education.  I have been in the same grade ever since and love it!  Mrs. Ballard has joined our team, and we all enjoy working together to further our student's learning experience.  This will make my 5th year in Kindergarten, and I plan on staying here for a long time!

I was born in Tennessee but had the opportunity to move around as a child.  From Tennessee to Texas, I experienced a broad range of teaching styles.  I believe this experience, while sometimes hard on an elementary student, gave me tools to interact with people with a large scale of diversity.

I knew from an early age that I wanted to work with youth.  I got a degree in Biblical Ministries with a focus on youth work from Philadelphia Biblical University.  After this, I got married and settled back home in Tennessee.  From here I pursued a further degree in education from Lee University.  I graduated with a Masters of Education (K-6) with honors.  The administration at John Hay Elementary graciously took me into their family for the 2009-2010 school year as a Kindergarten Classroom teacher.

I must say, my first year at John Hay was one of the best years of my life!  Seeing those "ah-ha!" moments is what first drew me into education.  In kindergarten, those moments happen all the time.  The growth and development in this grade is astounding!  I appreciate the opportunity to teach, and hold this charge as a great honor.

My son, Tobin Jacob Wilke, was born July 1st, 2010.  He has been an amazing journey thus far!  I have been so blessed with a wonderful wife and now an amazing son.  I now also have a daughter, Eden (we call her Edie) and I am loving every minute of it.  I love seeing the students excited to see my kids when they come to visit!  Its great knowing my children will be loved once they arrive at John Hay.

This year will be a great year, with a great group of new Kindergartners.  I look forward to all the new "Ah-Ha" moments this year!
